Scatter Plot

Correlations are graphed on a scatter plot or scatter gram with one variable on the horizontal or X axis (abscissa) and the other on the vertical or Y axis (ordinate).

Each subject’s score is plotted by placing a mark directly up from his X score and directly across from his Y score, as follows: See graph

Based on this graph, we would assume the correlation to be positive because of the upward slope and fairly high because of the closeness of the score.
