Measuring a Construct
- Since there is no direct way to measure a construct, we must first determine what observable variables might represent the construct.
- IOW: Intelligence can not be observed, but we can observe the use of vocabulary, ability to do math, or time it takes to complete a puzzle or a maze.
- But do these observable measurements really represent the construct. How do you define intelligence? The score on an intelligence test?
