  • In Inferential statistics, the values for the sample and the population are symbolized differently. Basically, the sample uses English letters and the population uses Greek letters.

    • x̄= sample mean
    • μ = population mean (lower case mu)
    • SD = sample standard deviation
    • σ = population standard deviation (lower case sigma)
