Assessing Relationships 1

  • Pearson Product Moment Correlation
    • Abbreviated r
    • Most used correlational coefficient
    • One used with two group linear relationships
    • Can be used to determine reliability (e.g., test-retest) and Internal Consistency (e.g., split-half, odd-even)
    • Typically works best when both variables are of the interval or ratio scale
    • </ul style=”list-style-type:circle”>

    • Point Biserial and Biserial
      • Used with two variables when one variable is not of the interval or ratio scale (e.g., income level and sex or average lifespan and race)
