- Standard Deviation
- Abbreviated SD for the sample and σ for the population
- Most widely used measure of score variance
- Determines how far the average score varies or deviates from the mean.
- Works very well in a normal or close to normal distribution

- Abbreviated S2 for the sample and the σ for the population
- The square of Standard Deviation
- Not used often due to the high number it provides, but necessary in eliminating the possibility of a negative number
