23: The True Experiment: Rigid Research Methods

The True Experiment

  • The most rigid method of research is called the experiment, experimental methods, or experimental design
  • With all else being equal, this is the preferred method of data collection
  • Steps involved in doing an experiment:
    1. Determine the theory
    2. Define the variables
    3. Develop the hypothesis
    4. Design experiment
    5. Gather subjects
    6. Test subjects
    7. Analyze results
    8. Report findings

*Obviously before any research can be done, a review of the literature is necessary.
