Albert Bandura

Albert Bandura, and American psychologist born in Alberta, Canada.  He received his Master's degree from the University of British Columbia in 1951 and his doctorate a year later.  A year after graduating, he accepted an appointment  at Stanford University where he has remained ever since.

He is most well known for his work in social learning theory, a form of behaviorism emphasizing the cognitive components of thought, appraisal, and understanding.  He was awarded the Distinguished Scientist Award from the American Psychological Association (APA) in 1972, and elected president of the APA in 1974.
